How often do you say thank you to your friends?

Do they loan you things? Help you with ideas? Offer assistance with your computer? Have they watched your children? Are they a good listening ear? Is their perspective valuable to you? Have you taken the time to tell them how you feel about the neat things that they do for you? From chapter 6 in THANKYOUOLOGY, here are a couple of ideas to practice the art of saying thank you with your friends:

Thank You with Recycled Greeting Cards

Instead of tossing out your holiday greeting cards, keep them in a box or bag. Throughout the year regularly select one to reread. Then write a thank you note to the sender telling that person something you appreciate about your friendship or business relationship.

Thank You Thoughts

Having a tough time with a particular person? Had a falling out or lost contact with others all together? Write his or her name on a piece of paper, fold it and put them in an envelope. After your morning journal writing, select one of the folded names and say thank you to that person. Every time you think about the person during the day, say thank you to help shift your feelings about the person. Record your results in your journal and repeat as often as necessary.
