Body Thankyouology
If we said thank you to our body as often as the pharmaceutical companies advertise drugs on television and in print, I think there would be less need for prescription medications. Have you ever thought of sending the body a thank you note? for me, it would be to the liver.
Do you know that the liver is responsible for over 500 functions in the body? Five hundred! Do you know that if a processing plant were built to replicate all that the liver does, it would require a building one square block, five stories tall? That’s why a compromised liver plays a
role in nearly every disease of the human body. Have you thought of saying
thank you to each part of your body on a daily basis?
Here is a sample of what I mean:
Thank you…adorable arm, abdomen, appendix and ankles.
Thank you…brilliant brain.
Thank you…clean colon.
Thank you…delightful digestive tract.
Thank you…exciting endocrine system, eyes and elbows.
From Chapter 5 of THANKYOUOLOGY, more suggestions to say thank you to the body are:
Bodywork
Bodywork is powerful. Regardless of the adjectives assigned to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we enjoy it (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy is an ally in your healthcare regimen. It is a magnificent way to say thank you to your body.
Eliminate Toxic Chemicals
Whether or not you believe that personal and household products are toxic for you, there are over 25,000 chemicals and substances that can potentially be used in shampoos, skin care items, perfumes, cleaning products, toothpastes, sun blocks and more. Anything we put on our skin, inhale while we are cleaning or use to wash ourselves or our clothes, it is a fact that the liver has to filter ALL substances. I know your body will love you when you say thank you by reducing the use of toxic chemicals.
Skin Brushing
The skin is the largest organ in the body. On a daily basis, it is responsible for one-fourth of the body’s detoxification, making it one of the most important organs for elimination. Skin brushing has so many benefits: tightens the skin, helps digestion, removes cellulite, stimulates circulation, cleans the lymphatic system, removes dead skin layers, strengthens the immune system, improves the exchange between cells and stimulates the glands helping all of the body systems to perform at peak efficiency. It is worth your time to add skin brushing to your morning routine before taking a shower—a most invigorating way to say thank you to your body. Click here to see the steps for skin brushing.
